About
Welcome to Southeast Alabama Community Action Partnership
OUR MISSION is to provide low-income persons with the information, opportunities; education and increased self-assurance that they need to become self-sufficient: “Helping people. Changing lives.”
OUR METHOD is:
- to help vulnerable persons avoid slipping into poverty,
- to alleviate the suffering of persons caught in poverty,
- to assist persons who, with help, would be able to lift themselves out of poverty, and to teach affluent people about the root causes of poverty, its debilitating impact and what they, as responsible and caring persons, can do in a struggle to overcome poverty.
This website is for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). LIHEAP provides energy assistance to eligible households to meet the rising cost of home energy.
What To Bring To Your Appointment
Please bring the following documentation when you come for your appointment.
●Monthly Income documentation for the month prior to your appointment date, for the entire household. Acceptable proof of income is weekly or bi-weekly pay stubs, S S I Social Security Award letter, or unemployment verification. If you receive T A N F or child support, you must also
bring proof of amount received, in the previous month.
●Social Security Cards for all household members.
●Current Picture I D. The person making application must bring their current picture I D (must be head of household or their spouse).
●Section 8 or any type of Government based housing must bring in a current statement showing
their utility allowance.
●Your Current Utility Bill – The Bill must be in the head of-household or spouses name. The only
exception is if the Utility Bill is in the landlords name, (in which case the lease will be required), or if your name is on the utility account. We also help with water bills.
●If your service is off, you will need a printout from the utility company, showing what is required
to have your services turned back on.
●If you need a deposit, your household must qualify for Crisis assistance. (Someone living in the
home has a health condition that will be aggravated if an interruption of services occurs. Some
exceptions will be considered for children under18 and those ages 60 and above.)
●Non-Biological Parents must provide custodial or legal guardianship papers (Notarized
statements will not be accepted).
●If you are applying for Crisis assistance, you will need to call your local SEACAP office.
●Please keep in mind that if you are missing any of the documentation listed to you, your
appointment will be rescheduled for the next available time.
